My name is Matthew Barrett and I am a dedicated teacher of piano and music composition for all ages and levels of ability. I have worked in the music industry for over ten years as a composer for film, media and contemporary dance, as well as providing original music for ensembles and orchestras. I have performed internationally as a pianist and keyboardist, both in bands and as a soloist. My musical training has been traditional and thorough: piano performance, music theory and composition. With this technical background, I have found it natural and enjoyable to embrace many musical styles, including jazz, rock, pop, electronic and dance music. I believe strongly in the power of music to transport people beyond the everyday, and to be a potent form of self-expression. My goal is to share my love of music and its ability to change each person's life for the better.
